Hanwell Station plaque unveiled

The Society’s 2021 annual award plaque has now been unveiled at Hanwell Station together with another one to mark a National Railway Heritage Award. The picture shows our chairman Ann Chapman together with representatives from TfL, MTR Elizabeth Line, Ealing Council and the National Railway Heritage Awards. The station is a Grade II listed building dating from the 1870s, which has now been carefully refurbished, giving step free access, a new waiting room and general improvements to the area. Even the paints were matched to the old GWR colours. Crossrail, Network Rail and TfL worked together to create a really attractive station for the new Elizabeth Line trains. As a result the station has now been removed from Historic England’s Heritage at Risk Register. Three more Crossrail stations were commended our 2022 awards in October.
