ravilious-plaque-5-oct-16-245On 5 October we unveiled a new green plaque jointly with Acton History Group. Eric Ravilious (1903-1942) was born at 96 Churchfield Road W3 but his family moved a few years later to Eastbourne where his father, a shopkeeper, set up his business following earlier bankruptcy. Eric went on to become a renowned artist, designer & illustrator who tragically died in 1942 as an official war artist whilst flying on active service over Iceland. The picture shows Anne Ullmann, daughter of Eric Ravilious, Sarah Ullman, granddaughter of ER, and Ella Ravilious, granddaughter of ER.  A talk on Ravilious will be given by Andy Friend on 8 March 2017 at 7.30 in St. Mary’s Church Hall, The Mount, just off Acton High Street W3 9NW (near Morrisons).
