Ealing Council has been successful in an application to become a frontrunner local authority under the Government’s localism agenda. It has been awarded £40,000 to draw up neighbourhood plans for both central Ealing and W. Ealing. The Council will be organising a neighbourhood forum workshop with local groups, including the Society, in April to discuss the way forward. Under the Localism Act which is due to come into force on 6 April communities will be encouraged to develop neighbourhood plans for their own areas. The Society, working with Save Ealing’s Centre (SEC), approached the Council in 2011 with a view to drawing up proposals.
