The best is yet to come for Ealing, according to Sir Sherard Cowper-Coles who gave the Society’s John Delafons Annual Lecture on 25 June. About 75 people turned up to hear Sir Sherard, Chairman of the Pitzhanger Manor Trust and former diplomat, give a lecture entitled Salute to the Suburbs. He talked about the history of the London suburbs, the current make up of the Borough and the outlook for the future, including the advent of Crossrail, the regeneration of the Uxbridge Road, the new cinema complex and the restoration of Pitzhanger Manor. A transcript of his lecture is available here.
